The Solid State Revolution: Digital X-ray Imaging Goes 3D

Andrey Lomako talks about the advanced capabilities of CMOS digital x-ray detectors and how those advantages are bringing new imaging modalities to light.

Every technology has a lifespan. Image intensifiers have been an excellent technology for decades, making X-ray imaging more useful, reliable, and accurate. While the image intensifier has done a good job of providing quality images and keeping both patient and medical professional safe over the years, its limitations in delivering high-quality low-dose imaging means that it will not take the medical industry where it wants to go next: ubiquitous 3D imaging.

To deliver low-dose, high-quality medical imaging for new modalities, it’s becoming clearer that the future lies with CMOS digital x-ray.
